Sachin Rajput secures not guilty verdicts on all counts in the case of alleged serious domestic violence by a defendant with a number of relevant previous convictions admitted in evidence.
The defendant faced trial for multiple offences in a domestic context. On the index date of alleged offending when police were called, the complainant presented with facial injuries from assault including facial bruising / swelling and a cut ear from a knife.
It was alleged that the defendant had strangled the complainant on the day and viciously assaulted her with bodily blows. Also, by threatening her with a knife to her neck in a private place. It was further alleged that there had been a catalogue of violence and controlling and coercive behaviour from around three weeks into their relationship. He also allegedly stopped her from working and also took the complainant to a secluded area and suggested he had killed there before and then allegedly showed her a site with a bone in the ground.
The defendant denied all offences.
The defendant had a number of relevant previous convictions recorded against him in domestic settings which the learned Judge admitted into evidence before the jury.
After a six-day trial at Leicester Crown Court, the defendant was acquitted of all charges.
Sachin was superbly assisted by instructing solicitor Vasanti Vaitha of Smith Partnership and attentively assisted by solicitor Kulveer Tind, also of Smith Partnership, throughout the trial. It was very much a team effort, in a challenging trial, that resulted in acquittals on all counts.
