Ronnie Bergenthal secures Hospital Order for his client originally charged with Murder
In this tragic case, a man killed his partner of 20 years in a hammer attack after being overcome with an irresistible impulse due to a rare mental health disorder.
HHJ accepted the defendant was mentally unwell and at the time of the killing he was suffering from a severe depressive illness together with catatonia.
Ronnie’s submissions lead to an accepted plea of manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility and a Hospital Order was made under the Mental Health Act.
Ronnie was instructed and assisted by Sonya O’Brien of Norcross Lees and Riches Solicitors.
