Kira Chana achieves acquittal in 4-handed affray where her client was running self-defence.
This was challenged by the co-defendant who suggested Kira's client was the aggressor and that his actions were unreasonable. They relied on the alleged smashing of a window by Kira's client to demonstrate that he was 'out of control'.
Kira successfully persuaded the jury to put that out of their minds as he was not charged with criminal damage. Further, that his actions were merely a reaction to an initial assault upon him.
The jury at Isleworth Crown Court unanimously acquitted after 2 hours of deliberation. The co-defendant was convicted.
Kiras client was of good character and had his immigration case on hold pending the outcome of criminal proceedings. He can now progress his visa application with good character intact.
Kira was instructed by Ms Selina Synge of MB Law.
