Chris Whitehouse successfully represents firearms Defendant and displaces 5-year prison sentence for a fine
Chris defended a young woman whose boyfriend left a bag at her address which, unbeknown to her, contained two firearms and ammunition. Having pleaded guilty to the strict liability offence, she faced a minimum sentence of 5 years imprisonment.
Chris successfully argued exceptional circumstances, namely that she had not known the contents of the bag which she thought was an overnight bag containing toiletries. The judge held that she had been used and exploited by her boyfriend and imposed a £600 fine instead.
